Melanie is very direct with her instruction and training. What she teaches is very applicable to any Pinterest user, especially to a Pinterest business account.

In addition to good basic information regarding Pinterest, Melanie also gives you many powerful, larger scale strategies to really grow your following over time. These range from incorporating Pinterest into your company website and vice versa, the pixel size of your images, to the type of text you include in your images.

If you fully implement all of the strategies taught within the program, you will definitely be on your way to having a large and converting Pinterest following.

The material that has been created by Melanie is very high quality. The videos are all “over-the-shoulder” style videos, which is great for following along without getting lost.

Also, Melanie has a voice that is easy on the ears and explains things clearly and in a way that make sense, even if you have no previous experience with Pinterest.

The Power of Pinning website is slick, appealing, and simple to use and navigate. The interface is very intuitive and easy to understand.

The Bad

Product Based vs Service Based

One of the biggest problems I have with Power of Pinning is that a majority of the training is focused on promoting businesses that have actual physical products to sell: t-shirts, crafts, flowers, toys, curtains, etc.

If your business promotes services like teaching, mentoring, counseling, etc. then you may have a more difficult time applying everything she teaches to your unique situation. That being said, you will still likely learn quite a bit.

Info Not Unique

The information within Power of Pinning is not any sort of “Top Secret” information. If you are willing to spend the time searching, filtering through bogus information, reading blogs and websites, then there is no need to pay for this product because it is all publicly available knowledge. In fact, the sales page even admits this:

Here, Melanie will teach you a few tricks to improve the results you are getting from your profile. Some things she focuses on are working quickly and efficiently, improving the SEO aspects of your pins, and some “unique” ways to use Pinterest. (Not really sure how unique they are anymore, but they’re still decent.)

Here Melanie has a few tutorials on how to quickly make appealing images that also foster customer engagement and, hopefully, bring in sales.

She also spends a good amount of time discussing the copyright and legal issues around using images from the internet in your own work. This is super important as you DO NOT want to get caught using copyrighted material!

Module Four: An Inside Peek at the Brands Who Are Doing it Best

This module consists of a series of case studies of some of the brands that have really embraced Pinterest and have effectively used it to drive potential customers to their products.

The idea is that, by studying these successes, you can get a better idea of what makes for quality content that has the ability to go viral. Do they have common characteristics? Are these things you could be doing with your very own pins and boards?

This is the one section in which Melanie discusses promoting a service based business on Pinterest. She also spends a good amount of time digging into the organization and visual appearance of your boards.

As the name of this module implies, it is primarily focused on increasing your following as quickly as possible with quality followers. A portion of this has to do with leveraging your competition’s profile pages to work for you.

Support

The support within Power of Pinning is okay. It’s not great, but it’s not non-existent either. If you need some questions answered you can submit them through their built-in support system or hope you can find the answer in the FAQ section.

Price

The pricing of Power of Pinning is very straightforward: a one-time fee of $97. This is nice and is a good indication that the product has legitimacy. They are confident in their price and know what their product is worth; unlike so many scams out there that will drop their price until it’s basically free to get you to buy and then hit you with upsells later.

As far as I know so far, Power of Pinning does not have any upsells that are integral to getting the most out of the product.

Final Opinion

For my final opinion, I would recommend that, if you are interested in increasing your Pinterest presence, you should give this product a chance. I think Power of Pinning is a quality product that will provide you with information that will be of great benefit to your business.

If you are able to afford the price, then go for it. If not, then you can definitely find everything you need to know about using Pinterest effectively on your own. It will take you a bit longer and require you to do a lot of manual searching, but it definitely is possible.

If you haven’t already noticed, the internet is WAAAY bigger than just Pinterest. If you truly want to take advantage of the billions of people online and leverage the internet as much as possible for your business, then you will need to build your presence in many additional ways.

You will need a Facebook Business Page, a Twitter profile, a LinkedIn account, Instagram profile, and a StumbledUpon account, among many others…you may also even want/need your very own website.

How on earth can you possibly learn how to utilize all of those potentially amazing sources of traffic? Well, you could buy a separate training program for each individual resource, or you could pay for one subscription and have 24/7 training and mentoring for everything I just mentioned…and more.
